MBTA Twitter account briefly hijacked by haiku battle

Someone at the MBTA is a poet and now we all know it. A few days after California’s two major public transportation agencies engaged in a haiku battle on Twitter, the MBTA is getting in on the action. Thursday morning, the MBTA tweeted at San Francisco’s Bay Area Rapid Transit and LA’s Metro: “We’re down to rumble haiku-style at anytime. The east coast is in.” That was followed by the somewhat more inspired tweet: “Subway, bus, rail, boat! We’re happy to be part of your home and commute!” The Twitter throwdown began when @SFBARTanswered a customer’s rhyming complaint with a clever rhyme of its own, and then challenged @metrolosangeles to try its hand at haikus. It wasn’t long before New York’s transit authority and the MBTA were in. Here are a few examples:
