Casey Affleck will be honored at the biggest film festival in the Czech Republic this summer.
The Oscar-winning actor is slated to receive the Festival President’s Award at the 52nd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, which takes place June 30 through July 8.
Affleck will also present one of his latest films, “A Ghost Story,” at the festival, along with the film’s writer and director, David Lowery, and producers Toby Halbrooks and James M. Johnston. The movie, described by the festival as a “mesmerizing cinematic poem,” stars Affleck opposite Rooney Mara and is scheduled to be released in July.
“We regard Casey Affleck as one of the most intriguing actors in contemporary American film and are honored to welcome the filmmakers during the presentation of ‘A Ghost Story,’” KVIFF president Jiří Bartoška said in a statement on the festival’s website.
Affleck has been busy since he won an Academy Award for his performance in “Manchester by the Sea.” He recently completed production on “The Old Man and the Gun,” starring opposite Robert Redford and Sissy Spacek, and he’s in post-production on “Light of My Life,” a feature that he wrote, directed, and stars in. According to IMDb.com, both of those films are scheduled for release in 2018.
