Celtics forward Jayson Tatum can throw down high-flying dunks, but can he fly a model airplane?
Tatum joined 24 students from Winthrop Middle School’s STEM Club at the JetBlue hangar at Logan Airport on Thursday as the kids celebrated completing JetBlue Rookie Flight Crew program. The four-week program teaches students the science of aeronautics as they learn how to build a fully functioning model airplane.
Tatum hopped on a tour of a JetBlue aircraft and watched as some of the students put their aeronautics knowledge to use.
“This is definitely a unique program that involves an extended process of thinking and working towards a specific goal of being able to fly their planes,” Tatum said in a press release. “That’s what we witnessed here today, the kids being able to put all of their hard work and skill sets on display. It was fun to see.”
