Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was transferred to a high-security federal prison in Colorado on Thursday, one day after being formally sentenced to death for his role in the blasts.

Ed Ross, a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, confirmed that Tsarnaev had arrived at USP Florence in Florence, Colo.

Ross could not say when Tsarnaev, 21, is expected to be moved to the federal death row in Terre Haute, Ind.

Tsarnaev, who has been held at the Federal Medical Center prison in Ayer, apologized on Wednesday to the victims of the April 15, 2013 bombings.
