The Rhode Island branch of the American Civil Liberties Union is calling on Mayor Allan Fung to release the full report of the state assessment of the Cranston Police Department. The ACLU sent a letter to Fung Wednesday saying that Fung’s plan to ask the attorney general what parts of the 180-page report would be appropriate to release is unnecessary and unwarranted. Fung said Tuesday the report may be redacted before it is released in full because it contains personnel matters. The report stems from a parking ticket scandal in 2013 in which more than 100 tickets were issued in the wards of two city councilors who voted against a police union contract.
