Six schools in Eastern Massachusetts received bomb threats on Monday, some of which came through robocalls, police said.
The schools that received the threats were Newton North High School, East Boston High, BC High, Arlington High, Haverhill High, and Manomy Regional Middle School in Chatham, authorities said.
Police in Boston, Arlington, Newton, Haverhill, and Chatham responded and searched buildings on campus.
Arlington High School, Boston College High School in Dorchester, and East Boston High School received robocalls, said Myeshia Henderson, a spokeswoman for Boston police.
Haverhill and Arlington high schools had a temporary shelter in place, police said.
State and local police along with the FBI have been investigating a rash of threats called in to Eastern Massachusetts schools since January.
Also on Monday, the Suffolk County House of Correction in Roxbury received a threatening telephone call, Peter Van Delft, spokesman for Suffolk County Sheriff Steven W. Tompkins wrote in an e-mail.
“Upon receiving an anonymous call, which claimed that there was a bomb placed at our facility, we immediately initiated our emergency protocol,’’ Van Delft wrote. The Boston Police Bomb Squad investigated, and reported no explosive device was found, he wrote.
