The Boston area might be a hot college spot in the US, but it’s also apparently home to the best institutions in the world.

A new list of the world’s most prestigious universities ranks Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge number one and two globally, respectively.

The rankings from the Times Higher Education, a London-based publication that focuses on global higher education news, were published on Wednesday, according to the site.

Other US schools dominated the top 10 list, with the only non-American schools listed as the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, both of which are located in the UK.

In fact, most of the top 10 universities are within driving distance to Boston: Princeton University in New Jersey ranked seventh, Yale University in Connecticut came in eighth, and Columbia University in New York was given ninth place.

The West Coast saw its fair share of glory: Stanford University, the University of California at Berkeley, and the California Institute of Technology also made the list.
