Forecasters at the National Weather Service are using one word to describe Thursday’s forecast, and it is not plastics.
“Beautiful’’ is the weather word for Greater Boston Thursday, meteorologists say.
“A beautiful summer day is on tap for southern New England,’’ forecasters wrote Thursday. “High temperatures should mainly be in the middle to upper 80s and it’s not out of the question that a location or two touch 90’’ degrees.
In Boston and other coastal communities in Massachusetts, the sunny day will be slightly cooled by sea breezes, keeping temperatures a few degrees cooler than inland communities, forecasters wrote.
Increasing the niceness of the day will be a decrease in humidity, forecasters say. “Less humid today but it will be very warm,’’ forecasters wrote.
Overnight temperatures should drop into the 50s outside of Boston, but remain in the 60s in the city and in other urban centers, forecasters said. “Dry and tranquil weather should prevail” overnight, forecasters said.
Friday could see the return of thunderstorms in the afternoon or in the evening with daytime temperatures in the 80s.
Currently, the Fourth of July weekend looks to be warm and sunny with temperatures in the 80s into next week.
