City Hall was bathed in green light on Thursday night, hours after President Trump announced he would be withdrawing the US from the Paris climate agreement.
On Twitter, Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh said the choice of decorative light was meant to symbolize Boston standing “with the environment.”
At a town hall-style meeting on Thursday, Walsh blasted Trump’s decision, saying, “We must do more to protect our environment.”
Trump’s announcement was seen as a major setback for attempts to stem global warming.
Boston wasn’t the only American city to see its City Hall lit up in emerald on Thursday night. Cities across the country and around the world showed their support for the Paris agreement.
