Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots pass $300 million

The Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots are both estimated to reach more than $300 million, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery.

The Mega Millions jackpot, which will be drawn Tuesday, is an estimated $346 million, the game’s highest jackpot since someone won $540 million on July 8, 2016, on a ticket sold in Indiana.

The Powerball jackpot will be drawn Wednesday and is estimated to be $307 million.

That drawing will be the 17th since the jackpot was last hit on a ticket sold in California on June 10 for a prize of $447.8 million, the lottery said.

The largest Powerball jackpot of all time is $1.586 billion and was won Jan. 13, 2016, with tickets sold in California, Florida, and Tennessee each winning a share, the lottery said.

The last Mega Millions jackpot was hit April 28, the lottery said. Tuesday night will be the game’s 29th drawing since then.

The cash option on the Mega Millions prize is an estimated $216.1 million, the lottery said. The cash option on the Powerball prize is an estimated $193.2 million.

Mega Millions can be played in 44 states, Washington D.C., and the US Virgin Islands. Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased for Tuesday’s drawing until 10:45 p.m. that day at Massachusetts Lottery retailers throughout the state.

Powerball tickets cost $2 and can be played in 44 states, Washington, D.C., the US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. Tickets for Wednesday’s drawing can be purchased until 9:50 p.m. that day.
