The Mega Millions jackpot has reached an estimated $382 million for Friday’s drawing, the Massachusetts State Lottery announced.
The cash option prize will be an estimated $238.3 million, the lottery said.
The Friday drawing will be the 30th since the jackpot was last hit on April 28, when the estimated jackpot was $61 million.
The swelling Mega Millions prize comes as the Powerball jackpot reached an estimated $307 million, with a $193.2 million cash option for the Wednesday night drawing. That drawing will be the 17th since the jackpot was last hit on June 10 for $447.8 million off of a ticket sold in California.
The Mega Millions jackpot is the highest since a $540 million prize was won off a ticket in Indiana in July 2016.
The largest Powerball jackpot ever was a $1.586 billion haul in January 2016 with shares won off of tickets sold in California, Florida, and Tennessee.
While the lotteries offer enticing prizes, the chances of winning it all are slim. The Mega Millions jackpot odds are 1 in 258,890,850, and the Powerball jackpot odds are 1 in 292,201,338.
Mega Millions can be played in 44 states, Washington D.C., and the US Virgin Islands. Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased for Friday’s drawing until 10:45 p.m. that day at Massachusetts Lottery retailers throughout the state.
Powerball tickets cost $2 and can be played in 44 states, Washington, D.C., the US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. Tickets for Wednesday’s drawing can be purchased until 9:50 p.m.
