Any chance you’ve seen a cute, pink, stuffed baby giraffe with horns sitting around Boston’s airport?
It belongs to Erica Fletcher’s 9-year-old daughter, and it’s missing.
Now, the search is on for the stuffed animal — named “Hornzy Twigs” — after Fletcher posted on Twitter about losing it in Terminal B of Boston Logan International Airport.
“We lost our daughter’s lifetime favorite toy today . . . Daughter is heartbroken,” Fletcher wrote Saturday night. “If found, pls contact me!”
By Sunday evening, it had been retweeted more than 9,000 times. Several Twitter users promised to help look for the toy at Logan, and the hashtag #BringHornzyHome was created.
Fletcher and her family, who live in Roslindale, were on their way to California when Hornzy went missing. Reached by phone Sunday, Fletcher said the toy was likely left on the ground near the Terminal B check-in area, between the American Airlines ticket counter and the curb. By the time they got to the security checkpoint, they realized Hornzy was missing.
“My husband and I are heartbroken for the loss,” she said. “It just meant so much to her.”
Fletcher’s daughter, who has had the animal for four years, also drew an adorable sketch of Hornzy.
Actor Wil Wheaton retweeted the message to his 3.21 million followers, urging them to “use Twitter to do something good, for a change, and reunite this little girl with her favorite toy.”
Unfortunately, Hornzy is still missing, despite the social media attention and a report to the airport’s lost-and-found.
Fletcher said her daughter is “terrified” that another child might have taken Hornzy.
“She doesn’t like that idea of another kid having her,” she said.
Fletcher said she was surprised by the widespread, positive reception her tweet garnered.
“I was just trying to do my due diligence as a parent,” she said. “[My daughter] was just like, ‘Wow, that’s so nice, people are looking in the airport and they don’t even know me!’ ”
If you happen upon Hornzy, Fletcher recommends you message her on Twitter.
