Four Brockton residents were rushed to an area hospital Wednesday for treatment of apparent carbon monoxide poisoning after a leak inside a heating unit was found in a home, officials said.

Brockton firefighters and Brewster Ambulance Service transported all the residents of the single-family home at 213 Sawtell Ave at 9:34 a.m. after authorities determined there was “improper venting of a gas heating unit,” Deputy Fire Chief Joseph Marchetti said.

Marchetti said firefighters were on scene for two hours, and he expects all the residents to make a full recovery.

“The patients seem to be improving as they came into fresh air,” Marchetti said.

There were no carbon monoxide detectors in the home, and levels had reached 100 times the safe amount, Marchetti said.
