Swampscott is holding a public meeting on the plan to convert the former Machon Elementary School into senior housing at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, in Room B129 at the high school. Town officials and the project developer, B’nai B’rith Housing, will present draft schematic plans for creating 38 units of affordable senior housing in the original 1920 portion of the school building and a new addition. Finding a new use for the school, which closed in 2007, has been a goal for some years. The intent of the meeting is to seek initial feedback from the community before the developer begins the permitting process.
