President Donald Trump and the White House hosted a ‘‘Made in America’’ product showcase Monday featuring products from all 50 states.
One such product? A firetruck — which the president promptly hopped into as Vice President Mike Pence held the door open.
“Where’s the fire?” Trump said, according to a pool report. “I’ll put it out.”
The president then added that the truck was “beautiful.”
The event came during the ‘‘Made in America week,’’ an attempt by the White House to focus on issues that matter to the president’s base as his administration is plagued by daily revelations related to the escalating Russia investigations.

This isn’t the first time Trump has pretended to take an unwieldly vehicle for a spin: He also climbed into the cab of an 18-wheeler in March, drawing some ire from critics for the public display as House GOP leaders were fighting to get enough votes to pass their health care bill.
