East Bridgewater official apologizes after girls’ basketball team wins by 86 points

EAST BRIDGEWATER — East Bridgewater’s schools superintendent issued an apology after the high school’s girls’ basketball team won a state tournament game last week by 86 points.

The Vikings beat Madison Park, 93-7, Feb. 28 in the first round of the Division 3 South tournament.

Elizabeth Legault, the district’s superintendent, called the score an “unfortunate situation,” saying it is not a reflection of the high school’s student body or athletic program.

Andrew MacDonald, East Bridgewater’s coach, has declined to comment.
