Fewer than 24 hours after they won another Super Bowl, Tom Brady and Julian Edelman were enjoying the spoils of victory at Walt Disney World.
Brady and Edelman made the short trip to Disney outside Orlando from Atlanta on Monday — on little to no sleep — to enjoy themselves.
Edelman posted several short videos as part of an Instagram Story chronicling their adventures.
The first video showed the players sitting in the park’s Toy Story ride.
“Where are we?” asked Edelman.
“Disney . . . World,” Brady answered, the pause providing an added effect.
In the next segment, they debate who’s who in the “Toy Story” universe.
“Who’s Buzz Lightyear and who’s Woody?” Edelman asked.
“Woody,” Brady said as he nodded in Edelman’s direction.
The story also included photos of Brady and Edelman playing with sabres, the players posing for photos in front of the Magic Kingdom, and Edelman autographing a young fan’s No. 11 jersey.
As Edelman signed the jersey, a woman could be heard in the background saying “oh my god, thank you so much.”
After the autograph session, the girl — she came up to Edelman’s waist — gave the wide receiver a big hug.
It was not immediately clear whether Brady and Edelman were compensated for the visit — a Disney World spokesman declined to comment — but past participants have been.
One piece detailing the history of the Disney ad said Phil Simms was paid $75,000 for the first commercial, which was filmed in the moments after Super Bowl XXI.
Malcolm Butler’s agent relayed this story from a few years back.
“Someone called and asked if my client would agree to be in a commercial if he happened to play well in the big game,” said Derek Simpson, referring to Super Bowl XLIX, in an interview with Sports Illustrated. Butler, he said, was at first hesitant to sign the contract. He did eventually.
