According to multiple reports Thursday, the Boston Breakers of the National Women’s Soccer League will fold after a potential deal with a new ownership group fell through as the league nears the start of its season.

The Breakers are an original team of the NWSL, which formed in early 2013. They went 4-13-7 last season, finishing ninth out of 10 teams.

The Breakers also participated in the Women’s Premier Soccer League Elite (2012) and the Women’s Professional Soccer league (2009-11).
