The Patriots are headed back to Europe this season.
New England will travel to London to face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 20 at Wembley Stadium, the NFL announced Wednesday. Jacksonville, which agreed to a three-year deal with Wembley in 2022, will be the designated home team. The game will kick off at 9:30 a.m. ET.
The game will be the Patriots’ third in London (2009, 2012) and fifth in an international city (Mexico City in 2017, Frankfurt in 2023). The Patriots are 3-1 in those contests, their only loss coming last year at Deutsche Bank Park in Germany.
When the NFL introduced the concept of international home marketing areas in December 2021, the Patriots initially had only Germany. They have since also picked up Austria, Switzerland, and Brazil.
The Jaguars are certainly familiar with London, having played in the city 11 times since 2013. Jacksonville is 5-6 in those games, including 2-0 last season. Jacksonville’s international home marketing areas are the United Kingdom and Ireland, so a pro-Jaguars crowd at Wembley would come as no surprise.
The game will also represent the first meeting between the two teams following the Mac Jones trade. In March, the Patriots traded Jones, their first-round draft choice in 2021, to Jacksonville in exchange for the sixth-round pick (No. 193 overall) they used this year to select Joe Milton. Jones is expected to serve as quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s backup.
The NFL will release the full schedule for the 2024 season on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. (NFL Network, ESPN2).
