SCORE: Red Sox 4, Twins 2

RECORD: 12-12

BREAKDOWN: Brayan Bello had his second straight dominant outing since returning from the World Baseball Classic, firing six shutout innings with seven strikeouts. His last two starts: 12 innings, no runs, seven hits, 14 strikeouts, no walks. At one point against the Twins, he got swings-and-misses on three straight pitches: changeup, sinker, cutter. He elicited 13 swings-and-misses in 69 pitches, including three on his vastly improved curveball. “[The curve] has progressed a lot,” Bello said via translator. “I feel like I command it wherever I want to throw it.” First baseman Willson Contreras, in his first game back from the WBC, spearheaded the offense, going 2 for 2 with a double, walk, RBI, and run.

NEXT: Most members of the Opening Day lineup will head to Port Charlotte to face the Rays at 1:05 p.m., with minor leaguer Blake Wehunt making the start. The top Sox prospects will head to Sarasota for the Spring Breakout game against Orioles prospects at 6:05 p.m. Both games are on NESN.
