New movies now available to stream
‘Sentimental Value’
The Norwegian family drama “Sentimental Value,” from director Joachim Trier, arrived on Disney+ and Hulu this week. The flick won the Oscar for best international feature film at this year’s Academy Awards, and stars Stellan Skarsgård as a decorated director, but a derelict dad. He tries to reconnect with his family by enlisting his daughter (Renate Reinsve) for a role in his latest film, set at their family home. However, when she refuses, he ends up casting a notable American actress, played by Elle Fanning, causing drama for all involved. Available on Disney+ and Hulu
‘Ballerina’
Billed as “From the World of John Wick,” the Ana de Armas-starring spinoff “Ballerina” hits HBO Max Friday. Set between the third and fourth “John Wick” films, the latest installment of the action franchise features de Armas as a ballet-dancing assassin embarking on a quest for revenge. Globe film critic Odie Henderson gave “Ballerina” 2½ stars in his review, writing that it’s “easily the goriest entry in the series.” Available on HBO Max
New TV show now available to stream

‘Daredevil: Born Again’
Marvel’s hit series “Daredevil: Born Again” returned for season 2 this week on Disney+, with star Charlie Cox back in the saddle as the Man Without Fear. This time around, Daredevil is persona non grata in Marvel’s fictional New York, which is now led by the villainous Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), the iron-fisted new mayor of the Big Apple, whose anti-vigilante task force is terrorizing the city’s populace and street-level heroes. Old allies like Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, thankfully, are back to help Daredevil fight the power. Available on Disney+
Binge-worthy TV pick

‘Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette’
FX’s “Love Story,” the anthology series chronicling the whirlwind romance between John F. Kennedy Jr. (Paul Anthony Kelly) and Carolyn Bessette (Sarah Pidgeon) came to an end with Thursday’s highly-anticipated finale. It’s now available to binge-watch on Disney+ and Hulu, and you can revisit one of the year’s most-talked about shows. Available on Disney+ and Hulu

‘Anatomy of a Fall’
One of my favorite films from the 2024 awards season, Oscar-winning drama “Anatomy of a Fall,” hit Netflix this week. The harrowing French-language film stars Sandra Hüller as a writer and mother who’s accused of killing her husband (Samuel Theis) and must prove herself innocent in court. The film won the 2024 Oscar for best original screenplay, and was also nominated for best picture. Available on Netflix
