I’m sure there will be a lot of opinions about why the Boston Red Sox ended their season on such a dismal note. I’m also sure all have some merit. The change in the team that I noted was when the two purported superstars, Roman Anthony and Trevor Story, returned at the end of August.
Prior to that, the team had great chemistry and enjoyed playing the game and competing together. You could feel the energy, even if you weren’t that familiar with some of the players’ names.
After the stars’ return, it was as if the Peanuts character Pig-Pen had gifted his cloud to the team. The smiles were gone, the energy was gone, and arguably, the Red Sox’ hopes for the postseason were gone.
