BURLINGTON — Five years ago, Julianna Casucci, Amelia Blood, Kendall Gilmore, and Julia Okenquist lifted Uxbridge’s first state championship trophy as eighth-graders.
On Saturday, the seniors lifted their fifth for the top-seeded Spartans at Burlington High after a gritty 3-0 win over No. 2 Sandwich.
“I get to go out with five-straight championships, but what’s even more special is who I got to do it with,” said Casucci, who is commited to New Hampshire.
Uxbridge (22-0) completed a perfect season, defeating every opponent by at least three goals, to become the second team to win five consecutive state titles, behind Watertown, which won nine in a row from 2009-17. The Spartans’ first four titles came in Division 4, making this their toughest yet.
“They’re used to playing so pretty, being able to make their moves, take their shots, but that was disrupted by [Sandwich],” coach Kelly Rosborough said. “To just play the gritty, all-out heart game, they needed that. They haven’t had that all season.”

The Blue Knights (19-2-2) opened the first quarter in a fury, developing multiple offensive opportunities that were shut down by the Spartans’ defense. As both teams fought for possession, they maintained an accelerated pace of play, completing quick transitions without breaks.
Uxbridge finally tallied in the second quarter after junior Mia Oullette subbed in for Aubrey Bouchard, who had to leave with a bloody nose. Oulette pushed the ball through a small window past a wall of Sandwich defenders.

Casucci doubled the Spartans’ lead late in the third quarter, and Bouchard came off the bench to fire a shot into the back left corner with less than three minutes remaining.
After capping her high school career with a perfect season, Casucci said that years of hard work are what made their successes possible.
“All of us have worked our butts off since we were very young, and we’ve worked for everything we have achieved.”
